Weekend at Sea Part l

By a twist of calendar fate due to a late Easter, Ascension day in Sweden (always a Thursday, always a public holiday which often includes the right to take Friday off as well) fell on the same weekend as Sweden's national day, June 6 which meant that most had a 5 day weekend while only taking one day off work.  In yet another bizarre twist of luck, the weather has been good.  We took full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the beckoning call of the Stockholm archipelago. We set out Thursday at noon in our trusty little Finnmaster.  We headed south of Stockholm and found a perfect little harbor in which to enjoy lunch and a short nap. Glorious to be in the sunshine on the water.  We made our way to our friends, Judy and Olle who live in the beautiful community of Saltsjöbaden very near the Baltic Sea.  We moored our boat next to theirs and headed for the golf course where we played 9 holes of golf!  What an enjoyable afternoon.  We had a lovely dinner at their house and had made arrangements to stay over so that we could get a good start on getting out to the archipelago in the morning.  We awoke to an absolutely stunning day.  The sun was warm and shining brightly.  There was nary a cloud in the sky.  We packed an amazing brunch of breads, cheeses, fruit, juice and champagne and off we went.  We found a gorgeous place to drop anchor and nibble away at the bounty we had brought.
Nothing quite like a mimosa in the sunshine on the water.

Olle enjoys the views by driving the boat with his foot! Afterwards we headed out to sea, landing at Marilyn and Kjell's island paradise.  After a quick cup of coffee we were headed back to Stockholm.  It was a magical, beautiful day on the sea.
